Oh Happy Day

I wanted to share a few of things that simply make me happy.

On a side note-I found this program on my computer that has tons of old pictured stored, so I am going to be sharing several oldies.....

1.  My family-This really covers a lot of territory.  Of course, there is Reed, Lindsey, Caleb, Josh, and Maddie.  But I also really enjoy the cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and all the "extras".  I am glad Christmas and Thanksgiving are just around the corner.

2.  Friends-I feel truly blessed in this department.  I have so many wonderful friends that I have had for years.  I simply can't imagine my life without them.  I am also disappointed that I don't have pictures of all of them.  I am going to make it a priority to do better in that area.  So look out, my camera and I will be looking for you!

                                                                       Marnetta

3.  Simple things-Hummingbirds, rainbows, the hayfield, a full moon, snow, the beach, the river, etc....

Being a grandparent-This actually should be much higher on the list, but I'm talking about being a grandparent in a broader sense.  I like being able to contribute to the grandmother conversations with friends and strangers alike.  I like being that grandmother that loves buying things for my baby and spoiling her rotten.  I love everything about this new role of mine.  And so does Pop.

Other things on the list-  My job-I love working with children, and I love the wonderful people I work with.

Spending time at home-I have always enjoyed this. If I could find a way around cooking, cleaning, and laundry, I would never want to leave home.

This list could go on and on......Do you ever wonder why God has chosen to bless you so greatly?  There are so many things in life that we have no control over.  I think we should enjoy everyday.  I am thankful for my family, friends, my job, and the simple things in life.  How about you?

Family Time

We have just returned from a short trip to Alexander City.  To me this trip was extra special because Uncle C went with us.  I love having my childen together.  This is the thing I miss the most about them growing up and leaving home.  Anyway, excuse that trip down memory lane......Maddie was still a little under the weather.  She is much better, but she is not eating or sleeping well.  Also, it was a rather rainy and dreary day, so our time outside was limited.  Rest assured though, not feeling well and a little rain couldn't keep us from enjoying our time with our sweet girl.  Next week, Lindsey and Josh will celebrate their anniversary, so guess who's coming to our house?!?  We can't wait!

We left after the Alabama game and this beautiful moon helped guide us.  (Also, that game was a little too close for comfort.)

This was definitely a t-shirt and diaper kind of day....Perfect for cutting grass!

Uncle C

"Hey, Uncle C, did you know the horse is back there?  Let's go check it out!" And they did...

Helping Pop drive back from the barn after unloading a bale of hay

Blurry, but her she is helping mommy rearrange her tupperware cabinet.  And yes, it has those childproof things on the doors.

Simply precious!

We didn't do anything special, but still had a great time.....It is amazing how quickly she is growing up.  She will be 18 months in just a few days.  Time Flies!!

All Smiles

Just a short post to say that we are all smiles because we are going to see our sweet baby girl this weekend.  She has been sick today, but after a trip to the doctor and some great medicine, Lindsey said she is going full speed.  I will post again after our trip with all the fun details. I predict lots of smiles, hugs, playing, and laughs.  I simply can't wait!!   Have a great weekend!

Huntin' Fishing and Stuff

I absolutely love hunting season (deer, turkey, dove, duck -it doesn't matter).  And no, I do not hunt.  I have no desire to hunt.  I really don't understand what all the thrill is about.  I like it for 2 reasons - it makes my guys happy and it gives me lots of free time to myself.  (Is that selfish?)  I think I can honestly say that in 28 years of marriage, I have never one time complained about Caleb or Reed hunting.  (I will say that then we were dating Reed's coon hunting gave me fits at times.  Thank goodness he gave that up before we married!) Reed taught both Lindsey and Caleb to appreciate and love the outdoors.  They both started doing fun things with him outside at an early age.  Lindsey never really hunted, but she loves the outdoors.  Caleb has grown to really appreciate the opportunites he's had hunting.  Reed and Caleb also seem to enjoy the "getting ready" as much as actually hunting.  They both love driving the tractor, planting fields, and all the other things that go into it.  The cost of this little hobby would probably send me over the edge, if we ever figured it out.  I can't think of anything I could do as a hobby that could compare.  However, their enjoyment of simply being in the woods either by themselves or together makes it all worthwhile.  Most of these pictures are a few years old, but I wanted to share them with you.......

Caleb getting ready to shoot some doves.

Looking for a downed bird
Gus loves to hunt too!
Brooke got in on the fun.

I love this!  Doesn't Gus look like he's having fun?

Reed's last deer of the season last year

Nothing but trouble!

Even bigger trouble!!  We've got big plans for these little piggies.  This picture was taken over the weekend
with Reed's game camera.  They enjoyed eating and rooting around 2:00 in the morning.

Waiting on the ducks
This was actually Gus getting his 1st duck.

Fun times deep sea fishing

A Few  More Blasts from the Past-
An oldie but goodie-Hasn't Caleb changed?

Reed and Lee and our precious Jake. Not sure when this was taken,
but it was quite a few years ago.

Loved that dog. I think that masked man is my hubby.

The Princess
Did I mention that we all loved this dog?

Caleb -I still can't get over how much he has changed.

I mainly put this one in because I loved the matching camo......

No hunting-just fun times!

Dove season is still in, although I have been told that we have no birds.  However, deer season is just around the corner.  Reed and Caleb can't wait.  They are also excited about Josh joining them this year.  And while they are hunting, I will be reading, cooking, shopping, scrapbooking, playing with Maddie, napping, and lots of other fun things.  I CAN'T WAIT!!
