Could It Be?

I am trying not to get my hopes up, but could it be that spring is really near?  I am starting to see signs pop up all around.  Take a look!

These pretty little guys are popping up all over the yard.  These are
from bulbs I transfered from my grandmother's yard.

This is a bush at the top of our hill.
This second picture of this bush was taken just 2 weeks ago.
Isn't it amazing that it's already blooming?

Spring Break comes early for me this year.  So, I am hoping that this warm weather continues. However, the 38 degree temperature early this morning has me wondering..............

Birds of a Feather.....

This was another adventure from the zoo.  This exhibit may have been there for awhile, but this was the first time I had seen it.  You were able to actually feed the birds nectar.  Of course, we just knew Maddie would love this.  We were wrong.  This was the only part of the zoo she didn't like.  We eventually gave our nectar away and ventured on, but not before Reed made a few new friends.

Have a great day!

A Day at the Zoo

OK- for the first time Lindsey beat me to the blog!  Check her blog out here for more on our fun day together.

Now for my version-We had a ball!  Maddie was an absolute angel the entire day.  She loved the animals, she spoke to almost everyone at the zoo, and never so much as whimpered.  I told Pop that there are some things that a picture can't capture and also that I can't really find words to express.  These include the way she lights up when she sees us, the sweet hugs she gives, and simple things like the way she would call the animals to "come on" when they would walk away.  Priceless memories!!

I thought this was a neat shot.....

Having a snack right before we left...

This was simply a beautiful day.  I can't wait until be see them again.  (I am hoping for next weekend.)  The only thing that could have made it better would have been if Caleb and Brooke had been with us.  But, Caleb is on a guys trip to Nashville this weekend.  Maybe next time.....
Next up, our very own "Birdman".

Also, I am having serious camera problems.  So, I apologize for the quality of some of the pictures.  I am afraid I am fixing to have to take the plunge and get a new one....

Spring Fever

These 70 degree temperatures have me really longing for Spring. I can't wait until we are complaining about how hot it is every day. I also can't wait until we can spend more time with Maddie, take a beach trip, swim every day, take care of my flowers, and all those other fun things. Also, in just a couple of months Caleb will be a senior in college. How hard is that to believe? Since I am quite certain we are going to have some more cold weather, and I am going to have to wait awhile for all my Spring and Summer dreams-I am going to post to some old pictures that remind me of these times.......

I can't wait for......

1.  River Trips

2.  A Little Fishing

3.  Maddie Time!!

 4.  Pool Time!!

5.  Gardening (This is Reed's area!)

6.  Flowers (My area!)

I simply can't wait.  Don't get me wrong-I actually enjoy winter.  I love fires in the fireplace, hot chocolate, snow, cold days at home with a good book, homemade chilli, and so many other things about cold weather.  However, enough is enough!  Bring on the flip flops, sunscreen, and new spring flowers.  I am so ready!!

This and That

We had a wonderful time with Maddie filled with simple but fun things.  Below are just a few highlights of our time with her...

(These pictures were also taken on her last visit.)

Pop found this etch a sketch at the local dollar store.  It was
a very big hit!

She loves to have her hand traced!

Check out this ponytail - courtesy of Pop!

Precious!  She begins everyday with a bow although they
seldom last more than a few minutes!  So we were extra
proud of this ponytail....

Pop and I consider it our responsibility to
help broaden her horizons and expose her to
new things - so Nana introduced her to pretzels dipped
in peanut butter!  Yum!

This was quite a hit!

And Pop introduced her to vienna sausages.  These were
also pretty yummy!

Pop and Maddie put out a little bird seed in the front
yard for the birds.

We are meeting at the zoo in Birmingham for a visit this weekend.  More on that later........

Lovely Day

For Valentine's Day(actually the day before) Reed and I journeyed to Tuscaloosa to see a movie he has wanted to see for a few months-True Grit.  I am always amazed that even though Reed and I have been either dating or married for over 30 years, he has seen about 10,000 more movies than I have. I think he slips down in the middle of the night and watches all those shoot 'em up movies.  (He will point out that I have subjected him to MANY Hallmark movies over the years...) Old westerns, especially John Wayne westerns are his favorite.  So, I think he enjoyed the movie greatly.  I on the other hand simply enjoyed being with him.......

Hope you also had a great time with your sweetie!

Just Dance

We pushed back the furniture, Uncle C put  Just Dance in the Wii and the fun began!!

(These pictures were taken on Maddie's last visit.)

Uncle C showing his moves!

At first, she just watched while C showed his moves......

And then while holding her blanket close,
she began to show her moves!

She actually got her baby and let her dance a little bit!!
Although you will NEVER see pictures of it, I would like for the record to show that I actually beat Caleb on Proud Mary.  Rock on!!!
