Little Stinker

Caleb, Reed, and I spent a very busy Saturday in the backyard cleaning, raking, blowing off, moving plants, painting, working on the pool, etc.  Somehow in all the confusion, the gate was left open and Gus escaped.  Gus never leaves the yard!  (Maybelle on the other hand tries to make a run for it every chance she gets!)  We called, rode around and looked, and called some more!  We have had very bad luck in the past with our dogs just disappearing, so I was worried sick!  Our babies are very spoiled, and I wanted him back home.  Happily, after supper he appeared on the doorstep.  A little while later, I spotted this note and picture on facebook that was posted by a sweet neighbor -

This dog has been at my house all day very friendly just wondering if he has a home?

Well, we had driven by their house several times while looking for him, and we live close enough that I know he could hear us calling!  Also, Reed said he was quite certain Gus would come running when he heard his truck.  He obviously was having a ball on his little adventure, and must have hidden whenever he heard the truck come by!  I am so glad that he is back, and glad that he chose a nice neighbor's house to hang out with!

And just in case you were wondering about our beautiful Maybelle.  She only ventured across the street and watched us from another neighbor's driveway.  She would wag her tail at us, but would also not come home for several hours. She would run whenever we got near!  She was never out of eyesight though.  Both are right back where they belong now!

Fishing with My Guys

After a wonderful church service, I thought I would spend the day resting peacefully by the almost clean pool.  Reed and Caleb thought a little fishing trip would be a lot more fun.  I tried to convince them they would have much more fun without me. Once we made it o the pond, I was asked quite a few times to please be quiet, and they also told me I probably wouldn't be invited back.....However in spite of that, I really had a ball. I love spending time with them, especially on such a beautiful day!!

The fish practically jumped into the boat!!

The trolling motor battery was not completely charged, so Caleb had to paddle us back!
Perfect end to a wonderful day!

Another Quick Trip

Reed and I are getting really good at quick trips to east Alabama.  It is one of my favorite things to do.  I have already warned Lindsey that I want to come at least one day a week this summer.  Poor Josh!  I guess if I get there and the gate is locked, I will have to take the hint!  Maddie and a newborn are going to be more than I can resist.

  • On this quick trip, we rode out to see the lake and eat at a wonderful restaurant there.  However, the restaurant was closed, so we settled for great pizza.
  • We got to accompany Lindsey to her doctor's appointment.  I simply can't wait for the new little one to make an appearance.
  • We did a little shopping.  I shouldn't get so excited over trips to Hobby Lobby and Dollar Tree!
  • Maddie entertained us with her sweet, precious self!

Can't wait until our next visit!  Spring Break has begun for me!  I am going to spend the first few days doing some serious yard work, and then our sweet girl is coming for a few days!!

It Must Be

Spring!!

(Caleb's arm)

Reed has enjoyed a few fishing trips already......

And I am sad to say that Gus has too!

Everything is in full bloom! The dogwood trees in our neighborhood and yard are gorgeous!

So are the azeleas!

I may have jumped the gun a little bit, but I potted several new ferns and planted several bedding plants this weekend. Hopefully, we won't have anymore really cold weather.

Also, I lived a little vicariously through Caleb.  He headed to the beach for Spring Break.  My Spring Break is next week, so if you happen to see my sweet husband, could you mention that I would love to spend a couple of days there myself?

Small Town Fun

How does a small town have a good time?  They throw a little party for 400 of their closest friends!  Good food, a great band, good friends and lots of family led to a great time for everyone! Five couples from our community will be getting married between the end of March and the middle of June.  So, we celebrated with A Barbeque and Barn Dance at the McClure's.  They are so gracious to open their home for many events throughout the year. Reed and I were thrilled to be apart of this, because Rose, Maria, Haley, Heath and Caroline have each been so important in our lives and Lindsey and Caleb's.  There is no way to count the cheerleading events, river trips, beach trips, baseball games, football games, proms, and so many other things we have shared over the years! Lindsey and Martin and Caroline and Caleb actually started out at Cathy's Daycare together! Events like this reinforce how thankful I am that my children grew up in a small town! It's amazing that they are all grown, responsible adults now.  Time flies!

With the standing room only crowd, I wasn't able to get a picture of all the couples, so the table of pictures had to do!

Fun was had by all - young and old

Lindsey's Senior Class(2004) was well represented.  The years slipped away when they got together.  They were having so much fun that getting a picture was quite a challenge.  There were actually a few more here that didn't make the picture.  I know Lindsey would have loved to have seen this bunch!.....Caleb also had lots of friends here, but I wasn't able to find him at all in the crowd.
After quite a few trys, we finally got them settled!!  I love this bunch!!

Wonderful memories were made, and everyone seemed to have a fantastic time!  I know we did!

Simply Not Possible

It seems like only yesterday that this sweet boy entered the world.  Now, he just completed his Senior prom and will soon graduate and be heading off to college.  I can't wait to see how his mom and dad handle that empty nest!!  We love you Jonathan and are so proud of the wonderful young man you have become!!

Oh Happy Day!

Our sweet son in law came into our family about 3 1/2 years ago, and he has been a true blessing.  It's a wonderful feeling to know that your daughter and grandchildren are in such wonderful, protective hands.  We hope you have a very special birthday!

Kite Flying Kind of Day

While Nana was attending the funeral of a special friend's mom, Uncle C and Pop ventured to the hayfield for a special afternoon with Maddie.  Pop had gotten Maddie a new kite, and they decided it was a perfect time to try it out.  Uncle C said after running about 2 miles with the kite, it was up and away. The pictures pretty much sum up what a great time they had!

I hate I missed this adventure.  Looks like they all had a ball!

Strolling

Pop was busy working, so Maddie and I took a little stroll.  She insists on taking the stroller when we walk, but she never gets in it anymore!  She also had her side of the street, and made sure I stayed on mine.  We walked over to feed the neighbor's horses, Choctaw and Cherokee.  This is one of her favorite things to do!  Who knew a simple walk could be so much fun!?

And we're off!

She's pointing to the spot on the other side of the road where I am suppose to stay!

Walking is serious business.....

And it's lots of fun!

Well, hello there horses!

Headed back to Nana and Pop's house.....

Swinging is pretty fun, too!

So, we had breakfast, dressed, played with her toys, watched a little tv, went on our walk, went to the grocery story, and then to the dollar store, came home and did a little swinging and picked up sticks........And it was still only 8:30 in the morning!
