What a Week!

Another busy week is in the books, and we are starting this week with even more adventures.  As I have said before, I do not take these times for granted.  I am very thankful for every opportunity that I get to spend with my people!  I have been a little under the weather for a few days, and that has been a little challenging, but this too shall pass!

This little slugger got the game ball last week.  He had several great hits and chased the ball down in the outfield several times.  He almost got a player out a home!

That's a hit!

One my favorite people in the whole wide world retired this week.  I'm not quite sure what the town of Aliceville will do without her in the post office.  I'm counting on her remembering all those addresses I need for a long time to come.

This little one was sick and spent the day with me.  Even though he doesn't look too excited here, I promise we had a great day!

Have you ever tried pumpkin spice cookies with spring colored sprinkles?  Delicious!!!

Another Grandparent's Day is in the books.  I love these sweet days. Maddie didn't actually have Grandparent's Day, but she helped as part of SGA.  I enjoyed the best muffin ever!

I love that Lindsey is able to be with her babies from grades K-12.

Sweet Reed!

Pop and I left at 4:15 Saturday morning to travel to Munford to watch our girl run.  She had another great meet.

I am very proud and impressed with her work ethic and desire to always do better.  However, the picture below is what makes me happier than I can explain.  After she finishes every race, she runs to wait for and cheer on her teammates.  She does this for the other girls on her team and the boys team, too.  To me, this is the epitome of a leader and what a teammate should be. I could not be more proud.

I'm not sure what to say about this picture.  Quite frankly, even after 39 hours of labor that I will never forget, I'm not completely sure she's really mine.  Not in this lifetime would I ever, ever hold one of Satan's hand puppets.  She however is keeping the hallways of her school safe.  Carry on!

More baseball, soccer and volleyball to come!

Family, Football and Fall Sports

Divide and conquer is the name of the game these days.  Reed went to Maddie's Cross Country meet
this weekend, while I went to a family get together.  I am currently in Alex City for a couple of days watching soccer and volleyball games.  Reed stayed home to attend John Sawyer's game.  We truly feel
blessed to be able to participate in the things they do. We have Grandparent's Day, a fieldtrip and lots of sporting events coming up this month.  Whew!

Two of my favorite people in the whole wide world!!

Cassandra and Gil had the family over for a little tailgating fun before the big game.  (We missed you if you couldn't make it). Not everyone had arrived before this picture.  Make no mistake about it win or lose- we are Alabama fans through and through!! We have added a couple of Mississippi State fans over the years and one from Arkansas, but no orange is allowed! :)  David, Julie and Landry were here from Texas to root on the Tide and expose Landry to all things Alabama!

Love these two!  Bethany and her family hadn't arrived from Meridian yet!

Fun on the quad!

Hunter and Bri-precious!!

Uncle Michael was a hit with the boys.

These cuties came home with me.

Pop was with Maddie at her Cross Country race.  She came in 4th out of 82 runners this week.  We are just so proud of her dedication.

Maddie and our favorite coach!

So, in addition to Cross Country, she is doing rec soccer to get ready for soccer season at her school.  She ran 5 miles at practice on this day, and then played an entire soccer game.  I'm honestly not sure how she does it.

I love watching this one play, too!  He absolutely loves this sport.

While I was with the 3 big kids, Pop was watching John Sawyer.  He also had a great night. Pop said he had two great plays at 3rd, and he had some great hits.

I'm not sure what we will do when this one starts playing, but we'll figure it out!!

Last but certainly not least, this cutie had her first volleyball match tonight.
It was so much fun to watch!!

I am heading home first thing in the morning. More to come!

41 and More

Forty one years ago, Reed and I began this wonderful journey together. We enjoyed a quick trip to the beach to celebrate. We returned and enjoyed a visit with our sweet grandbabies. Life doesn’t get much better. We have entered the busy season of fall sports. Two are playing soccer. Then we will add cross country, baseball and volleyball. Lots of trips to Northport and various places on the east side of the state are on our horizon.  I am so thankful to be able to participate in all their adventures. I love when they are visiting and the house is a total mess, and I feel like a short order cook.  I know these times will fly by so fast. Lots of pictures below.

It has taken me quite a bit of time, but I think I am finally turning Reed into a Buccee's fan!

Simply one of my favorite places in the world.  So peaceful!

I thought Reed was going to try and sneak this fellow home!

We didn't bring the rooster home, but we did bring this home. It was the perfect anniversary gift to each other!  Big chunks of concrete were falling off of the old one.  I was scared one of the kids was going to get hurt.  We were able to reconstruct the other one into a birdbath by taking out some of the broken parts.

This is the reaction you get when Nana picks you up and you go to CiCi's pizza.  (They requested-not my choice). He has his first baseball game this week.  So excited to watch!

Getting in possibly their last swim of the season.

No sharks here!

Five big ole chunks of my heart!

Batter up!

Pop and I enjoyed Reed's first soccer game of the season this week.  His team won 7-1!

I didn't get the end of the play, because I'm usually yelling at that point, but he scored a goal on this play!

I am truly a soccer fan now!  Maddie is playing rec soccer this year in addition to Cross Country.  We can't wait to watch her next week.  Lillian is also playing rec volleyball for the first time.  I can't wait for these new adventures.

Maddie and her coach!!  The first race was as hot and miserable as could be!  We were so proud of Maddie though.  She did awesome finishing 7 out of 76!! The new coach did a great job, too.

Lillian and I found a great place in the woods to watch her come by at the beginning of the race.

There she goes!

Still smiling after the race.  I truly can't explain how hot it was.  The race started at 5:00 in the afternoon.

More to come!
