Adios Spring Sports

I am currently in Alex City for a few days to attend Awards Programs and Lillian's game.  Four of the five have finished Spring sports.  Lillian will probably be playing a good while longer. Once again, I have enjoyed every game we have watched.  I seem to learn something new with every game and every season.  I will also admit that watching your grandchildren play just hits differently. I have lots I could share on sportsmanship, values, coaching do's and don'ts, and more. However, I think I'm going to keep those thoughts to myself. I am headed home tomorrow, then back again Friday.  The girls and I will be attending a special family wedding in Daphne this weekend.  I can't wait to see my family!! Now, let's catch up!

The climbing roses have been just beautiful.  When we moved in this house, they were very overgrown and covered with vines. We have worked hard on restoring them, and they have been just gorgeous the past two years.  We have added two Lady Banks and a Climbing Eden to our rose family.  I just can't wait until they are blooming! Everything else has been just beautiful, too.  We have lots and lots to water everyday, but Reed and I both enjoy all the different flowers.

Baseball season has ended for the two little ones.  Reed got to see Jack's last game.  John Sawyer wants to play soccer in the fall, and I truly look forward to that.

John Sawyer and Jack both had strep-one had it one week, and the other the next. They spent a couple of days both weeks with Pop and me.  They would have bouts of energy and then need a little rest.  We made the most of those spurts of energy. The new park in Carrollton is just awesome! We will be back.  JS didn't feel like staying too long this day.

There is no time quite like pool time.  I have to be honest-it's still a little cold for me!  The little ones loved it though.  Little Reed was actually the first one in this season.  However, nine year olds don't like you to show pictures with just their undies on! :)

Homemade cookies with lots of sprinkles were delicious!

I absolutely love watching Reed (and Maddie) play soccer.  Reed had his all-star tournament last weekend.  I know I say it all the time, but I never dreamed I'd be such a soccer fan!  The older they get, the more fun it is. I'm not sure I'll ever understand all the rules, but I've come such a long way.  Josh does such a good job coaching too. His players love him!

League Champs and All-Star runner-ups!  Coach Lindsey and Maddie have also had such a good season.  Lindsey has completed her first year of coaching cross-country and track.  She's a natural, and had such a great year! I think she has learned a lot, and I can't wait until next season. Although she was never a runner, she was always an excellent athlete and competitor.  Her commitment and hard work ethic are evident in all she does.  I am very proud of her!

This girl played a great game at catcher last night, and added several solid hits!  They defeated a very good Lineville team!  I love watching her play!!! And yes, she reminds me so much of her mother playing.

Next up, Awards Programs and Kindergarten graduation

What a Season!

What a season!  After multiple meets, sectionals and finally State, Maddie's freshman season has come to an end. I love watching her run.  She has found her groove, knows which races she prefers, and gives it her all every race.  This year was extra special because Lindsey became her coach.  They have made so many special memories through cross country and now track! We are wrapping up some of our Spring sports.  John Sawyer and Jack are playing in their end of the season tournament the next week or so.  Reed will have his soccer all-star tournament next weekend.  Lillian's softball will continue probably for most of the summer. More to come on all of that soon.

These sweet twins have been so special to Maddie the last 3 years.  They took her under their wing, and we are forever grateful for all they have done for her.  Becca and Katie will be greatly missed as they graduate.

Go Girl!!  She qualified for State in the 1600, 800, and 4 x 800 relay.

So proud of both of them!

Best coaches ever!!

Until next year!!
