Lazy Afternoons

Don't you just love Sunday afternoons?  I think they were made for quality family time together.  Naps, (although we don't do this unless the temperature is below 40 and it's raining), playing, and simply enjoying each other's company are things I love the most about Sunday afternoons.  After church this week, Reed and Caleb decided to do a little fishing.  After completing my almost weekly Sunday drive with Granny and Miss Bessie (which I might add definitely deserves a blog spot of its own), I joined them.  It was simply a gorgeous day!!!


We didn't fish here today, but I snapped this picture of the slough on the way in.  The leaves are beginning to change colors and it is simply beautiful......

This is the pond where we fished today.  The weather was beautiful.  There was a wonderful breeze blowing.  Simply a perfect afternoon.

The fish weren't too big......But, the guys didn't seem to mind.

I have someone tell me almost every day how "sweet" this little angel is..Ha! He can be downright wicked!!!

Well, Caleb is trying to "catch" me with his little jig.  I might add that he did this successfully several times!!!!

Glad to say I was one of the lucky ones that got away......

Michael Jackson is in the House!!

I have spent over 27 years, 4860 days and roughly 38,800 hours with most of these wonderful ladies. We have experienced marriages, divorces, births, deaths, illnesses and everything else in between together.  We have laughed together, cried together, gotten mad together, and gotten happy again together.  They are such a vital part of my life, and a large part of the reason I am still reluctant to retire.  This week we once again celebrated Homecoming.  Now, I love this event, but it is really hard to do anything productive....So, I say, "Let the Good Times Roll!"  We will work on reading, math, and all those other things next week.  Just kidding-we will just work a little harder on them next week.  For now though, we're all gonna be Rock Stars!!

Rock Stars for a Day!!

For the first time I can remember, we had a faculty talent show.  And boy was it fun!!  It was great to get out of our routine and just let loose.  The kids loved it.  We had everything including Hee Haw, the Supremes, the Temptations, Rolls Royce, Little Richard, Tina Turner, Selena, Lady Gaga, Bon Jovi, and many more...... I am sorry to say that I had camera trouble, so my pictures are limited.  Hopefully, you can get an idea of  the fun we had!

Working on one of our two floats!!  Lots more people helped, but I didn't have time to take too many pictures!!  We got third place and are thrilled with that.  We have lots of really tough competition from the high school.

Fun was had by all.........But, this is an exhausting, challenging, looooonnnnng week!!!  In between building two floats (Ms. Ball, what were you thinking?), dressing up, decorating doors, coronation, a pep rally, and  parade, we could all use a vacation.  What will we do next year to top this????

Another Visit Ends

 We had a wonderful visit with Lindsey, Caleb and Maddie.  Other than the birthday party, it was a very low key visit.  I like it like that.  She had actually said "Pop" ("Bop") several times, but Reed finally heard her say it this visit.  She also said "Uncle C".  Needless to say, both are definetly under her spell.  We are not sure when the next visit will be........What did we do before she entered our lives a short eighteen months ago?

Papa gave Maddie this cute Teddy Bear.  They both seemed to enjoy swinging.

We are working on playing with dolls and "stuff" like that....But, this girl just wants to be outside.  I don't know what we'll do when it gets really cold outside.

My Sweeties.....

We have no definite plans for our next visit, but I hope it won't be too long. (So far, we have only gone more than 10 days seeing her one time.  I plan to hold true to that as long as I can....) I confess to getting a little teary eyed when they drive off.  However, vaccuming, laundry, and lots of cleaning await, so off I go.  Have a great week.

Tyson - The Birthday Boy


Lindsey, Maddie and I traveled to Meridian to celebrate the 1st birthday of a special cousin, Tyson. Bethany and Lindsey are the same age and Tyson and Maddie are 6 months apart. We don't see them often enough, and it was great spending time together.  There were lots of children there, great food, and simply a good time.

  We are all Alabama fans-yet we always seem to plan things during an Alabama game, including weddings and birthday parties....(However, today's game was one I was glad to miss....)

On the Road Again

"Love them, spoil them and send them home."  This quote pretty much sums it up....We had a fabulous time with our sweet girl, but Josh and Lindsey insisted that she come home.  I actually asked if we could keep her, and for some reason they didn't think that was such a great idea.  The good news is that Lindsey and Maddie are coming back the end of the week.  We will be attending the first birthday party of a special cousin in Meridian.  We are so excited, because this will be the first time Maddie and Tyson have met. Anyway, I wanted to share a few more pictures of our fun time with Maddie this past weekend.

We left early Sunday morning to meet Lindsey in Clanton, but we still managed to get in a little fun......

When you get up at 5:00, you can actually get a lot done by 9:00.  Here she is enjoying a snack.
