Soccer, Sunshine and a Flood

These last two days have me eager for spring.  I'm ready for sunny pool days and to complain abut the hot temperatures!  The weather man broke my heart today when he said we can expect temps back in the 20's/40's next week.

John Sawyer and I have spent lots of time outside!  He and Pop also enjoyed some swing time!

He loves strolls in his little car.

It's true that the grass is always greener on the other side-Beau wants in and John Sawyer wants out!

Reed has enjoyed Read Across America week.  He's a doll!  I have missed him and his sisters.  Softball and soccer have started, so our visits aren't quite as frequent.

Josh is coaching Reed's soccer team, and Maddie is his assistant. Josh has the patience of a Saint, and is perfect for this job.  I just can't wait! I think it's going to be a lot like herding cats.

Be still my heart!  Cutest little soccer player ever!

The girls and Josh enjoyed a Father-Daughter dance.  They all had a wonderful time!

And the flood has been taking most of Reed's time.  This is actually a picture of the road going into our property.

This pond/lake should be about 10 acres.  It's about 40 now.

Our hearts go out to the many friends we have with homes that are now literally apart of the river.  We are ready for life to get back to normal!

Hurry up Spring!!

San Antonio

I was fortunate enough to be able to attend a conference in the beautiful city of San Antonio.  Since my semi-retirement, I haven't shared much about my new job here on the blog.  Make no mistake, I absolutely love it.  I am a Regional Coordinator for GEAR UP Alabama, and serve the high schools in Greene, Hale, Perry and Pickens Counties-eight schools.  I have loved getting to know my colleagues, and students.  I am amazed at how much I have enjoyed working with high school students, after 31 years in elementary! I also work with some amazing ladies, and it has been a joy getting to know them. This supposedly part time job keeps me very, very busy-but is so rewarding!  I am truly thankful for it!

We stayed right on the Riverwalk, so I enjoyed lots of walks and sight seeing!

This was directly outside of our hotel.

These little boats were beautiful-and were advertisements.

The Alamo was a half a mile away.  I strolled over early one morning before the conference began.  It's surrounded by downtown San Antonio now. Still a very unique place.

It's such an old city and the architecture is beautiful.

The Tower of Americas was directly outside my room.  Pretty awesome view!

Riverboat cruise with some of my sweet co-workers!

We are headed back to California this summer!  I can't wait!

Fun

A lot of fun things have been happening around here lately.  I just returned from a great trip to San Antonio-more on that next.  First, I'd like to catch up on some of the other exciting things that have been going on!

Reed had a wonderful time at his sock hop!  He also gave his sweet Valentine some flowers!

Mara and Reed have been special buddies since birth!

Based on that sly grin, I'd say he's pretty proud of himself!

I'm pretty sure that this one will always be a mama's boy though!

These two beautiful girls were in their school's beauty pageant while I was in San Antonio and both did awesome!

Love my girls!

Maddie has to do so many service hours a month for the Jr Beta Club.  She is helping me cook for the Senior Meal at our church Monday.  She will also help prepare and serve tomorrow. Little Sis offered advice on how to make that squash casserole!

This little one has been under the weather this week.  He still enjoyed playing with his cousins!  He also got his first tooth!

Love my babies!

Next up-San Antonio!

Smile

I'd like to share a few things that have made me smile lately-

*The sweet older couple that walked hand in hand in to Target.
*The slightly younger lady that followed the couple above with curlers in her hair, house shoes, and pajama pants-She made me momentarily think I was at Walmart.
*My fieldtrip to UA with RC Hatch this week.  I always love my job, but this was a really special day.
*Meeting Lindsey and the girls in Tuscaloosa to try on and pick up their beauty walk dresses.  (On another note, it makes me really sad that I'm going to miss that pageant.)
*Snuggles with John Sawyer.
*The sneak preview of spring on these warm days.
*Strolling through Hobby Lobby.

And this sweet, fur ball-

No squirrel is safe!

No stick is too big!

Well hello there, John Sawyer!

He is very much my baby, but he loves to hunt with Reed!  He gets super excited when you turn into the gate at our land.  He knows he's going hunting!

Meeting the neighborhood horses brought a smile to our faces, too!

And any day that I get to visit here puts a smile on my face!

I'm headed to Texas for a few days!  More on that later!
