Thirty-One

Thirty-one years ago, two bright eyed twenty year olds said, "I do!" Let me break that down for you--thirty-one years looks something like this:

  • 372 months
  • 11,160 days
  • 267,840 hours
  • 16,070,400 minutes
  • 964,224,000 seconds
Stamps were 20 cents each and gas was $1.30 a gallon! Wow! How in the world has Reed put up with me that long!? I might also add that in those thirty-one years, we have lived in three different towns and 4 different houses. We have been blessed with two super kids, and the greatest two grand babies ever!!

It doesn't matter where you go in life, what matters is who you have beside you! I am so glad you have been beside me for this journey! I can't wait for the next 31 years! Love you bunches!!

Sunday Visit

It had been two weeks since I had seen the girls, and I was going through serious withdrawals!  So, Reed and I left early Sunday morning and spent the afternoon with them.  We didn't plan anything special, but we still loved every minute with them. I love days when you dress yourself or don't dress at all, and just hang out and have a great time!  Precious!  They are coming here this weekend, I will go there for Grandparent's Day next week, and then we will all go to the beach together!  I am looking forward to each adventure!

Maddie and Pop were peacefully playing a Barbie memory game, when Little Bit decided to join.  Notice how happy Maddie was about that!

We had a few outside adventures, too!  They have the perfect porch for going around and around!

After her wagon ride, Lillian led me around and around quite a few times!

They have both outgrown the Pack and Play, but Lindsey added some balls and they love it!

What is my mom doing to me?? She was not too excited at first!

All's well that ends well.  Our very own Peebles!

Josh was working, but we loved this trip to see our 3 sweet girls!

Random Post

Things are very slow in the world of blogging right now. School has started back, and I am trying to get back into a routine. I am finding that routine is not my favorite anymore.  I am headed east this weekend to see our sweet girls, and I can't wait! In the meantime, I will share a few of the exciting things that are going on around here! I have canned enough tomatoes to last for years! I have kindly asked Reed not to bring anything else to this house that needs to be canned or frozen. Enough is enough!

Reed decided to do a little work this past Saturday, but he kept sending me pictures of  fish! That's my kind of work!

These muscadines are almost ready.  I'm not so sure I know what to do with these.

Reed's been burning off fields getting ready for dove and deer season.

This may look like a plowed field but it's actually the result of wild pigs.  It's amazing how much damage they can do in a very short amount of time.

Bless their little hearts!  This one is off to market!  Reed has found some guys that will take all he shoots.

We are all heading back here in a couple of weeks for a last long weekend trip.  I can't wait!!

Next up, our visit with our sweet girls!

Brown Bear, Brown Bear

I love quiet days with the girls.  I like that we don't always have to do special things to have a great time!  I am absolutely worn out after every visit, but I love it more than I could have ever imagined!

Maddie is a great big sister!  Lillian patiently listened as Maddie "read" to her.

What a mess!  Never a dull moment with this cutie!

Big sis is growing up way too fast!

Pop and I are missing these angels.  I think it might be time to head east for a little visit!

Best Babysitters Ever

Allison spent the day here to help with the girls recently, and she brought her friend Caroline.  The girls had a ball with them!  I tried to get a good picture of the four of them, but it was a little bit of a challenge!  Kitty was determined to join in the fun!

Thanks girls!

The Relatives Came Back

We decided the start to school was the perfect reason for another get together.  Sandra suggested oysters, shrimp, fish and crab legs, and boy was it delicious.  Have I ever mentioned how blessed I am with my 2 wonderful sister-in-laws?  Both are simply the best!  Lindsey had actually already started school, so the girls were here for the week.  Maddie was so excited to see everyone, and Lillian had a great time also.

All smiles as we enjoy each other's company!  Kris made a cute, cute cake for Ty's birthday.

Everytime Maddie went down the slide, everyone had to stop what they were doing and watch her.  She wouldn't go down until she had all eyes on her!

All of the cousins are so sweet with Lillian. She is a joy to be around, just like her big sister.  Her personality is really starting to shine. She really keeps us on our toes now that she is walking everywhere!

 Just hanging out!

Ty found this cute little baby lizard - and we convinced Maddie to share it with Uncle C.  This may not sound like much, but recently she innocently walked up to show him a lizard she had caught, and he shattered his phone trying to get away from it!
Looking for lizards and frogs and a little sidewalk chalk! My back patio has been quite colorful the past couple of weeks.

First we play and then we eat!  Yummy!  I love the picture of Charley making the cute face. It reminds me so much of David!

So much fun!  I can't wait until our next get together!  School starts Monday, and everyone will be happy to know that I've got my big girl pants on!  It's going to be a great year!

Bubbles

Uncle C showed Maddie and Lillian how to use their new bubble gun.  It's amazing how much fun you can have with a $3.00 toy! Cathy's kids also got to enjoy in the fun.  This is the last full week that the girls will be here for the summer.  We have enjoyed every second with them!

Lillian really wasn't too impressed with the lesson, but Maddie had a ball!

Maddie couldn't wait for the "big kids" to come so she could show them the new gun!  They loved it, too!  Rainer really enjoyed it!  I love his sad face!  He was upset because the bubbles wouldn't come his way!  Too cute!

Lillian really wasn't too excited about chasing bubbles, so she invited everyone to show their creativity with the sidewalk chalk.

Checking out the goldfish in the pond.

Maddie and Lillian were here for the week because Lindsey actually started to work this week.  I am so glad the girls get to enjoy these sweet children every afternoon.

All Good Things

All good things must come to an end.  I will soon begin my 30th year of teaching.  How in the world is that possible?  I absolutely love my summers, and it has always been very hard for me to start back.  However, I love what I do, and it usually just takes me a few days to get back into the swing of things!  I am hoping that will be the case this year!  I have big plans to do some serious cleaning out and throwing away this year.  The girls will be here next week, and I plan to enjoy every second with them, before I begin the big 3-0!

I have really enjoyed my flowers this year!  I always have the best intentions of taking care of them after school starts, but somehow that never happens as much as it should! Maybe this will be the year I change that!

Over the years, I have heard many homeowners with pools say they really don't enjoy them.  Let me assure you - I am not in that group.  I love spending my mornings here.  I try to be outside no later than 7:30 each morning. I actually enjoy pulling weeds, watering my flowers and even early mornings vaccuming the pool!
I also love spending afternoons with Cathy and the kids.  I REALLY miss this when school starts.

I think I am finished whining about the end of my summer now.  Next week, the girls and I are going to swim, eat popsicles, do a few art projects, visit with family and have lots of fun!  Then I am going to put my big girl pants on and have a great school year!
